The text is a summary of a lecture, held in Chur at the ceremony of the publication of the "Vulgata Tusculum Deutsch" on 23.10.2018. He casts first highlights on the comprehensive topic of hermeneutics in Bible translation, discusses the relevance of the canon formula and positions the Vulgate of Jerome as well as the Septuagint at turning points in history.
