Abstract

By comparing the Greek and Latin texts of the transfiguration of Jesus on Mount Tabor (Mk 9:2-10; Mt 17:1-9; Lk 9:28-36), it is shown how the Vulgate NT illuminates this central, very special theme. This essay also raises relevant theological questions, such as the genre of the Transfiguration text, but also the connection of the Transfiguration with the episode of the making of the covenant in Ex 24 on Mount Sinai. Is this the literarische Vorlage?
